The 60 tooth carbide blade of this unit allows it to cut through wood and other soft material with ease. The compound cutting feature can be used to expertly crown molding, pictures frames and shadow boxes. The miter cuts left and right up to an angle of 45◦. The unit also comes with a double sliding rail system, which allows users to crosscut stock up to a width of 12 inches.
The miter comes equipped with a laser light feature, which acts as a cutting guide. This allows users to make straighter and more accurate cuts by providing them with an outline on exactly where the blade will slice through. Two triple A batteries are included for this feature.

“I bought this saw on sale after buying a 12 inch Hitachi (non-slider) and returning it due to its size and weight. I usually buy heavy duty name brands. But this saw was easier to transport and had a 12 inch cross cut capability that the previous saw did not.
The saws aluminum castings are machined well and after using a digital angle gauge only needed to tweak the bevel stops. Most of this saw is comprised of aluminum castings with the few plastic parts being the saw housing and the adjustment knobs. The plastic parts could have been a little better quality but I am a non-contractor and plan not to beat the saw around. The laser battery compartment was a little cheap looking but the laser gave a sharp line that only required a little adjustment.
For DIY this saw offers a lot of value for the money and so far I am very happy with purchase. I purchased this saw from a store, was packaged with large styrofoam blocks protecting it. Very little assembly was required. I purchased the Genesis stand and was more impressed with it. Again very little assembly required. Very good quality all steel with plastic lock knobs, and the transport features are pretty slick. Highly recommend purchasing the stand. “
